Ebensburg Borough Hiring


The Borough of Ebensburg is seeking applicants for part-time janitorial work. Interested applicants may obtain application at the borough office or under Online Applications/Employment Application – Part Time Employment. Completed applications will be accepted until noon on Wednesday, August 11th.  EOE

Janitorial duties will be at the municipal building and tennis center.  Position is 15-20 flexible hours per week.  Duties include but not exclusive to: cleaning of offices, rest rooms, tennis courts, and public areas.  Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license.  $10.50/hour.

Ebensburg Homecoming Events – July 31st


Ebensburg – On Friday, July 30th & Saturday, July 31st Ebensburg Main Street Partnership will host their annual Downtown Shutdown and Homecoming celebration.

The weekend begins when the streets at the center of town close down at 6 pm to set up for a free concert that runs from 8 pm to 11 pm. This year’s event will feature Bachelor Boys Band – a high-energy, dance band featuring everything from top 40, to classics, to classical and jazz. Many of the downtown shops and restaurants are planning specials, events and live music as well, so we encourage everyone to follow our website or Facebook page as we are always updating our schedule of events.

Saturday begins with a community-wide yard sale, a fishing derby at Lake Rowena, a Farmer’s Market in Penn Eben Park, 5K & 15K at the Ghost Town Trail, Yoga at the Borough Pool, Free Tennis Clinics at the Tennis Center and so much more. “There are a lot of different activities happening throughout the day and into the evening – it’s an event that our community loves to celebrate!” said Danea Koss, Community Development Director. Yard Sale maps are now available at the Borough office, Ebensburg Library, and online at www.ebensburgmainstreet.com.

The Ebensburg Public Library will be hosting an outdoor book sale, yard sale, basket raffle, and, new this year, The Grove will be onsite with their food truck.

The Bishop Carroll Girl’s Soccer Team will be hosting an indoor yard sale, basket raffle, and breakfast/lunch food sales in the High School Cafetorium.

Cambria Summit ABATE will return with a backpack give-a-way (while supplies lasts) at Lake Rowena Pavilion.

Nearly 30 baskets, donated by the Main Street Partnership and local businesses for the Homecoming basket raffle are currently on display at First National Bank at 111 W. High Street. Anyone may now purchase raffle tickets at the bank through Friday, the 30th, and then onsite at Lake Rowena beginning around 5 pm on Homecoming day.

Homecoming festivities will come to a close at Lake Rowena with food, fireworks, a bonfire and live music performance by Flood City Brass from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Ebensburg Farmers Market – Every Saturday, 9 to Noon Starting July 10th

The Ebensburg Farmers Market will begin Saturday, July 10th and go through September 18th.  The market runs every Saturday in Penn Eben Park from 9 am to 12 pm, rain or shine. Vendors in attendance will be selling the following items, and items will vary from week to week:

  • Fruits – blueberries, raspberries, etc.
  • Veggies – squash, tomatoes, red beets, beans, onions, cabbage, cucumbers, corn, etc.
  • Herbs – garlic, basil, parsley, etc.
  • Farm Fresh Eggs
  • Baked Goods
  • Honey
  • Maple Syrup
  • Soaps/Hand Creams
  • Flowers/Plants


Movie in the Park – Friday, July 2nd



This year’s “Movie in the Park” will take place on Friday, July 2nd at Veterans Memorial Park (weather permitting). Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets for a movie under the stars. Dauntless Fire Company also be providing popcorn to attendees. The movie will begin at dusk. Voting for movie to be shown is open on the Ebensburg Borough & Community Facebook page. The possible titles are Raya & the Last Dragon, The Croods: A New Age and Soul.

Ebensburg Borough Public Works Department has reported a water main break affecting the areas of Manor Drive and Tanner Street. Water service will be suspended temporarily on Manor Drive between Swimming Pool Road and Windy Valley Road, and on the 300 and 400 blocks of Tanner Street. This does not affect the Cambria County Prison. Once the line is repaired and service restored, a boil water advisory will be in effect until further notice. A SwiftReach call was issued to all affected customers.

Memorial Day Parade Organizers Seeking Parade Participants


Ebensburg – Organizers of Ebensburg’s annual Memorial Day Parade are seeking participants for this year’s event to take place on Monday, May 31st at 10:00 a.m. in downtown Ebensburg.

The Memorial Day Ceremony in Veteran’s Park will follow the parade at 10:30 a.m. In the case of inclement weather, the parade will not be held and the ceremony will take place inside at the Ebensburg Presbyterian Church, 200 North Center Street at 10:30 a.m.

“Anything people can do to help remember the men and women that have sacrificed is appreciated”, said Bob Slebodnick, Commander of VFW Post 4963. “Ebensburg’s Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony are a special tribute to those who have served and sacrificed from the American Revolution to our current generation of service members.”

Any businesses, organization, military service men and women, Boy Scout & Girl Scout Troops, marching bands, Church groups, and classic vehicle owners wishing to participate in the parade to help commemorate this special Memorial Day celebration are required to pre-register by Monday, May 17th. All participants will assemble for check-in and line-up at the Ebensburg Public Library on Highland Avenue between 9:00 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. The annual parade and Memorial Day ceremony are sponsored by the Ebensburg Main Street Partnership, in partnership with VFW Post 4963 and American Legion Post 363.
