A boil water advisory is in effect for a portion of the area served by the Ebensburg Municipal Authority. A water line break on South Center Street has resulted in high turbidity levels. The water company cannot confirm when the advisory will be lifted. Turbidity has no health effects, however, turbidity can interfere with disinfection and provide a medium for microbial growth. Turbidity may indicate the presence of disease-causing organisms. These organisms include bacteria, viruses, and parasites, which can cause symptoms such as nausea, cramps, diarrhea, and associated headaches.

The area affected by the boil water notice includes areas of Ebensburg Borough and Cambria Township south of Triumph Street and east of Center Street including Manor Drive and Wilmore Road. Critical facilities in that area include the Cambria County Prison and the Cambria County 9-1-1 Center.

All affected customers are advised to not drink their water without boiling it first. Bring the water to a boil, let it boil for one minute and then let it cool before using it, or use bottled water.

Questions should be directed to the Ebensburg Borough Office at 814-472-8780.
